Inside a Suffolk styled wedding shoot at Butley Priory

This wasn’t a real wedding, but a carefully and creatively planned shoot designed to look and feel like one, created as part of a workshop hosted by The Edit Workshops.
Styled shoots give wedding suppliers (like me!) the space to create beautiful, editorial imagery without the time pressure of a live wedding day. But nevertheless, achieving effortless-looking, romantic images takes coordination, patience and teamwork. Throughout the day, everyone took turns directing and posing our models, ensuring each creative got what they needed. It’s a collaboration that mirrors a real wedding and a shared vision.
The workshop brought together an incredible group of suppliers and resulted in three unique looks featuring models Daisy & Josh, Beth & Seft, and Eleanor. The brief was: editorial, modern, structured florals, and lace (lots of lace!) And despite it being early spring, we were gifted blue skies and sunshine, which just elevated everything completely.
The styled wedding shoot setting: Butley Priory, Suffolk
Set in the Suffolk countryside, Butley Priory is a venue that instantly speaks to a wedding supplier's creativity. It features historic architecture, soft tones and textures, and a refined backdrop that lends itself beautifully to both classic and contemporary styling. For couples seeking something striking, it’s a venue that does a lot of the work for you!

Eleanor's bridal makeup: soft romance with a modern edge
Eleanor’s look was a nod to quiet luxury. Wearing a Champery Couture gown, with intricate lace flowing through her veil and gloves, every detail was considered - and modeled beautifully!
I created a soft, modern makeup look using rose and plum tones to subtly enhance her green eyes, keeping the overall finish fresh and refined rather than overly dramatic. Her skin was luminous, her features gently defined - nothing felt overworked. Paired with romantic waves in her hair, the result was timeless but still fashion-forward.

Daisy's bridal makeup: sculpted, sleek and editorial
Daisy’s look leaned more into a high-fashion, editorial space - yet it was still warm and personal. Her hair was styled into a slicked-back bun, which shifts the feel: it exposes the entire face and can appear less soft than, for example, gentle waves - so the makeup needs to be considered differently.
I used bronzed tones to sculpt and warm her skin, creating definition without heaviness. Her pearl and gold drop earrings, combined with a sleeveless lace dress, backwards lace scarf and full-length gloves, gave the whole look a confident and curated feel.

Beth's bridal look: fresh, glowing and ethereal
Beth’s look was all about softness and light. Her makeup focused on radiant skin, with a rose-pink blush bringing a natural flush to the cheeks. The aim was to enhance rather than transform, keeping everything delicate and harmonious.
Her lace dress with a sculpted bodice, paired with a chiffon backwards scarf and lace gloves, felt romantic without being overly traditional. Her hair, styled half-up half-down with soft curls, added to that effortless, ethereal feel. It’s a look that translates beautifully for brides wanting something timeless but still current.
A day of creativity and collaboration
Days like this are a reminder of why I love what I do. Working alongside such a talented group pushes you creatively, and there’s freedom to experiment, to refine, and to try ideas that might not be possible on a live wedding morning.
I left the shoot feeling genuinely fulfilled and re-energised. The final images speak for themselves, but more than that, it was the collaboration behind them that made the day what it was.
